Sachin Tendulkar feared my pace: Shoaib Akhtar

God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar Friday declined to comment on controversial Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar's remark that he and team-mate Rahul Dravid did not have the ability to finish matches.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said here Friday that people should read his autobiography first to ‘understand his remarks’ about Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, and added that they are ‘world class cricketers’.

In the book, Akhtar has claimed that god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar and wall of Indian cricket Rahul Dravid, who have scored 56,000 between them in Tests and ODIs, lack the ability to finish matches.

Harbhajan Singh Said, "I don't know what Shoaib is up to and what made him say so. If you talk about Sachin Tendulkar, obviously I would say that he is not only the best cricketer in India but in the world as well.

Everyone will vouch that Sachin is the best starter and best finisher in cricket. That he is still going strong speaks volumes. Dravid has been amazing in the manner he has batted.

Tendulkar's childhood friend and former cricketer Vinod Kambli, said Sachin was never scared of Akhtar's bowling, as claimed in the Pakistan cricketer's book.

'Sachin was never scared of Shoaib or anyone. Look at the way he played his cricket and scored highest runs.
"Nobody is even close to him and nobody ever dares talk to him"
like that," Kambli said.

Sachin Tendulkar's idea for ODIs interesting: Dravid

Mumbai: It might have been rejected by the ICC but god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar's suggestion to revamp the ODIs by splitting the format into four innings of 25 overs each has got the backing of his Test teammate wall of indian cricket Rahul Dravid.

Its a very interesting suggestion said by sachin. I don't know why the ICC has rejected it, but it's a good idea that Sachin has given and is worth experimenting, said by dravid on Wednesday.

Sachin Tendulkar had written a letter to the ICC to change the format of the ODIs from two innings of 50 overs to four of 25 overs like a Test match but the world council's Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat had rejected it.

Sachin Tendulkar lone Indian in ICC Test XI of the Year

Sachin TendulkarThe Indian cricket team's summer of discontent in the longest format of the game was reflected in the ICC 'Test Team of the Year' in which senior batsman god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar was the only player from the country to make the cut.

While Sachin Tendulkar took his customary number four spot for the third year running, Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan was the other Indian to make it to the team squad albeit as a 12th man.

The duration of the period on which the players were judged on their performance was between August 11, 2010 and August 3, 2011.

Sachin made 973 runs in 10 Tests at an average of 64.86 during the stipulated period.

God of cricket Sachin's intervention led to Bell's reinstatement

spirit of Sachin Tendulkar
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is getting the applause but it was actually Sachin Tendulkar's intervention that led to Ian Bell's reinstatement after his bizarre run out in the just-concluded India-England second Test, a media report has claimed.

God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar has emerged as the key figure behind India’s dramatic change of heart that led to them recalling Ian Bell after controversially running him out.

‘Dhoni was asked three times on the field whether he was appealing and each time he said yes,’ the source told Sportsmail.

‘Then when Flower and Strauss went to see Dhoni and Fletcher they said their captain insisted the decision would stand. Tendulkar was the voice in the dressing room that got Bell reinstated.’

It is no surprise that one of the greatest players to ever grace the game would be such an influential figure in such a big decision and would be aware of the implications of the run-out standing.

The atmosphere between the teams would have been tense for the rest of the summer while the sometimes fraught relationship between the two countries’ boards would have been further stretched.

Tendulkar is the most influential person in Indian cricket and it is widely believed that it is his objections to the decision-review system that has led to India refusing to allow Hawk-Eye to play a part in the decision-making process.

He will also have remembered that England returned to India after the terrorist attacks on his native Mumbai in 2008 to complete a tour that saw the 38-year-old score an emotional century in an Indian victory in Chennai.

Once Tendulkar had spoken Dhoni listened and a decision that — according to the letter of the law — was perfectly fair was swiftly overturned. It was also one that was quickly accepted by the rest of the India side who hold their illustrious team-mate in such high regard.

The England team quickly emerged on their balcony to applaud the Indians as Bell ran out after tea.
By then they knew that it was Sachin Tendulkar they were applauding.
