President awarded the honorary rank of IAF group captain on Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin TendulkarAn official statement said on Wednesday that President Pratibha Patil has awarded the honorary rank of IAF (Indian Air Force) group captain to India’s best cricket celebrity Sachin Tendulkar in credit of his glorious achievements as a cricketer brought to the nation and a god of cricket for the entire world.This award is under the provision of grant of honorary rank by armed forces to famous personalities acknowledging their involvement towards the nation.
The 37 year old sachin Tendulkar has the world record for most hundreds in both Tests and ODIs in a career of more than 20 years of international cricket.

  • Played 166 Test matches - scoring more than 13,400 runs with 47 Test hundreds

  • Played 442 One-day internationals - scoring 17,598 runs wth 46 hundreds ,

  • First cricketer to score a double-century in a one-dayer

Sachin Tendulkar role like a brand ambassador and he association with the IAF will motivate the younger generation to join the Indian air force to serve India ".

He told “I salute the Indian Air Force for this great honour award on me”. He continuoed as an Indian, I am very proud to be related with this active force and I shall do my level best to be a brand ambassador for the Indian Air Force.
